dwards, with Stamford Bels for many years, takes over from Matt Boyle who stepped down as boss of the

PDFL Division Two side this season.

Club secretary Leon Fedasch said: “I am delighted to announce that the new Stamford Lions Reserves team manager is Sean Edwards. Sean comes in with years of local footballing knowledge and he knows the core nucleus of the Lions squad which we felt was important. I wish Sean every success in the role and the club are here to match his managerial ambitions"

Sean added: “I have to start by saying a massive thank you and the best of luck to Bels in the future and to Lewis Morley taking over the 1st team. I have been with Bels for 13 years and had nothing but good times with the club and credit to the committee, and especially to Martin Conneely, who do so much work behind the scenes to make the club what it is.

"But to be offered this chance with Stamford Lions, and get involved in management, was a great opportunity. I couldn’t turn it down."

He continued: “I will be working with Matt Boyle from now and through pre-season to facilitate the hand over and then build on the brilliant success that he has already achieved with the reserve team.

"I know they are great bunch of lads in the team, and the club as a whole, and the team spirit in that club is second to none. I’m looking forward to working with James Sheehan (Lions' first team manager) again after spending time playing under him when he was at Stamford Bels and can’t wait to get started!”
