Langtoft took full advantage of Ketton's early Christmas gifts to keep up their fine run of form.

This was The Vikings’ fifth win in their last six PDFL Premier Division matches and it was aided by some very generous defending from the home side.

Langtoft had burst into a 2-0 lead with goals from Lewis Bradley and Ashley Firth but an own goal hauled Ketton back in the game. However some Kamikaze defending before half time handed control firmly back to Langtoft as Tiago Camilo and Firth pounced to make it 4-1 at the break.

Bradley grabbed his second of the match before substitute Matt Holdup pulled a goal back for Ketton late on.

The hosts were missing a few players due to a stag do and centre half Seb Hood was forced to withdraw from the squad because of illness.

The early exchanges saw Firth curl an effort wide after turning on a throw in. Ketton should really have been ahead but Nuno Marujo was denied at close range by Andrew Isabell as Langtoft made a hash of clearing the ball deep in their own 18 yard box.

Langtoft made full use of that let off when, Bradley nipping in behind the Ketton back line following a long ball forward from Mitchell Capes to fire past Mark Pulley in the home goal. The lead was soon doubled. Firth cut in from the wing to curl an effort past Pulley and into the far corner.

Ketton responded. Joe Morley whipped in a cross and Marujo’s header was clutched at the foot of his post by Isabell. Back at the other end Bradley looked for the spectacular with a first time volley from a Camilo cross, but the effort was wide.

The home side were back in the game when James Betts’ testing cross was put through his own goal by Capes. They very nearly levelled but Isabell saved well at his near post to again deny Marujo.

Just as Ketton looked to be on top, they imploded. Jonathan Lawrence’s back header lacked pace to reach Pulley, Camilo nipping in to round him and fire home. Minutes later Langtoft were gifted a fourth. Ketton’s defence stood like statues as they looked for each other to clear the ball, Firth pounced on the indecision to tuck the ball away.

At the start of the second half Pulley denied Bradley at his near post before the same player somehow missed an open goal as again the Ketton defence were caught out but the Langtoft winger rolled his effort wide with the goal at his mercy.

Ketton responded. Greg Rawlinson struck the inside of the post but the ball fell kindly into Isabell’s arms. Midway through the half Langtoft made it five, Bradley’s cross from out wide evading everyone and nestling in the far corner.

Late on in the game Ketton were forced to make a change when Pulley pulled up with a thigh injury, veteran Phil Bailey stepping in between the sticks. He made a good save at his near post to deny Ben Moore late on and also took a cross well in a rare jaunt in goal.

Holdup grabbed a mere consolation for Ketton but it was a very good header from a Betts free-kick none the less. Betts then fired a shot wide in the last action of the game, Langtoft completing a league double as they moved to within a point of Ketton.
