New Deeping Saturday skipper David Sargeant is relishing the start of the Lincs premier season on Saturday.

They host Woodhall Spa on Saturday and Sargeant is delighted to still have former skipper David Gillett involved.

“Having him in the side for his batting is a massive bonus to the team. For me having him on the field with that experience to call on for advice is going to invaluable. We have him and Peaks (Lee Peacock) who will give us that experience in the batting and bowling departments.”

Deeping welcome back Australian Zac Simmonds as well as new recruits James Hook and David Thomas from Spalding. Hook warmed up with 78 for the seconds on Saturday in their 77 run South Lincs win over Freiston. Jamie Morgan was also in good early season form with 80.

He continued: “We have a couple of batsman in good early touch. And this season we have a good core of young players, Josh Smith, Jackson Andrews, Nick Green and Patrick Harrington, who will all continue to improve. We have a good team spirit and will be agile in the field. The off season has been good with indoor and outdoor sessions. The mood is good and we are hoping to have a good start to the season.”
